What is CEP?

CEP or (Command Experience Points) is a separate pool of experience that is used to raise your CR (Command Rank or "Secondary Level" if you prefer). CEP does not affect your certificates or allow you to specialize in other vehicles or weapons.

CEP works just as BEP with the exception that this experience deals specifically for commanders and squad leaders and as you progress in the Command Ranks you are then given special access to certain elements in the game.

As a squad leader, the more members you have in your squad (maximum of 10 members), the more CEP you have the possibility of making. Also, the more heavily defended a base is when you hack it, the more CEP you can make (up to a maximum of 5,000). For example, a squad of two players, the (squad leader plus one additional member), may make five times less CEP than a squad leader with a full squad of ten members.

Here's a break down of each CR (Command Rank) and what they offer you:

Command Rank 1 (CR1)
To achieve CR1, you'll need 10,000 CEP.

As a CR1:

You will gain an image change to your character which adds a single shinguard to your armor. This shinguard and any other armor changes offered by any Command Rank do not offer you more protection, they are just for show.

You gain the ability to create squad waypoints on the map which allow squad and platoon members alike to see which waypoint you have set. Waypoints provide easy noticeable "where to next" points of reference.

You will also gain the ability to use the /sitrep command. The /sitrep command is a message from a Commander to the next higher ranking commander. In this case, a CR1 to a CR2. It follows a chain of command for all you military types out there. As such you can't go direct to the General or CR5, so you go to the next higher up than you. As you progress in CR so does your /sitrep reports. To use sitrep simply type, "/sitrep then your report" For example, "/sitrep Hossin is hacked" will send out the message that "Hossin is hacked" to all commanders one rank higher than you.

Note: A CR5 (highest Command Rank available) /sitrep report will go to all CR5s just as it did when you were CR4. It will not do nothing or look back at you confused.

Command Rank 2 (CR2)
To achieve CR2, you'll need 25,000 CEP.

As a CR2:

You will gain an image change to your character which adds a single singuard to your armor thus you will now have matching shinguards.

You will gain access to the Command Uplink Device (CUD) support tool which at this state will only allow you to see where friendly forces are around your area. But as you progress in CR the options with this tool will make you want to carry it with you always.

You will also gain the ability to use the command chat channel. The command chat channel or "/C chat" as it's referred to allows players of equal command rank to talk with eachother using /c chat. Simply type "/c and your message" as you would for chatting in your outfit channel or broadcast channel. As you progress in your CR, your /c chat will update as well.

Note: You cannot use /c chat to speak with lower ranked commanders.

Command Rank 3 (CR3)
To achieve CR3, you'll need 75,000 CEP.

As a CR3:

You will gain an image change to your character which adds a single arm guard to your armor. Now you'll have a nice mismatched arm guard to go with your two shinguards. We suggest you get your next CR quickly so you don't look like such a dork.

You will gain the ability to draw battle plans on the map displayable to your squad and platoon (provided you're the platoon leader). Most people use this to circle a base or suggest a route of travel. We at FeminineDivinity.net use it to draw a woman kicking a man in the balls. Use it as you will. We're just kidding we're not this mean... seriously.. right?

Your CUD will get an advancement to use its EMP feature. The EMP feature acts like a Jammer Grenade destroying proximity mines, remote mines, disabling vehicle weaponry, MAX special abilities, enemy radar, and enemy implants. This is our number pick of useful abilities on the CUD and would gain our gold star if we had one to give. At this stage the radius is about 10 meters and small but it grows with each next CR you gain. Personally I can't get enough of it, I EMP nothing just to see it go off.

Command Rank 4 (CR4)
To achieve CR4, you'll need 150,000 CEP.

As a CR4:

You will gain an image change to your character which adds a single singuard to your armor. NOW you'll look complete with two shinguards and two armguards. Personally, it's our favorite look.

Your CUD will upgrade to allow you a larger EMP at about 15 meters.

Your CUD will have a new "Reveal Enemy" feature. A very useful tool when you want to ensure you have cleared a base of intruders or to seek out pesky hiding cloakers. As a CR4, currently the range is about the SOI (Sphere of Influence.. you know that colored circle) of a tower.

Your /sitrep reports will max out allowing your reports to go directly to CR5s.

And you will gain access to the betrothed Orbital Strike. Orbital Strikes allow you to set a waypoint on your map as a point of interest/impact (POI). This POI is where your strike is going to hit. When you first gain this ability you may need to work on your aim a bit because you cannot zoom into the map when setting your POI. May we suggest you zoom into the map before attempting to strike and set-up a personal waypoint at the spot you would like to hit. Then activate your CUD and choose the mighty Orbital Strike. Pick your personal waypoint as the POI and update coords. Use the fire button on the CUD to accept all and wait ten seconds for impact. Watch the enemy run in fury while you point and laugh.

Note: If you wish to cancel your strike at any time before the 10 second countdown, you may do so by holstering your CUD. If however you pressed the fire button to confirm your POI and the countdown begins, there is no stopping it although we suggest you run into the POI to attempt to block it's fire! It'll work do it!

Orbital Strikes have a recharge of three long hours but that's ok because no one plays a game that long anyway... right?

Command Rank 5 (CR5)
To achieve CR5, you'll need a hell of a lot more CEP. In fact the CEP required for this rank is double that required to get to CR4. A whooping 300,000 CEP is required... better get on that.

As a CR5:

Congratulations! You have gotten to the pinnacle of PlanetSide... really. You're now rewarded with the most ridiculous, stupidest looking backpack we've ever seen. Fashion sense kicks into overdrive when I see this thing and makes me want to stick my finger in my mouth and act like Britney Spears. It's absolutely horrible. It even has an antenna sticking out of it for some sort of imaginary radio in the bag. But hey! You made it! Celebrate!

Your CUD will increase in range for "Reveal Enemies" and "EMP"

You can now access the CR5 or (Big) Orbital Strike which has double the radius of a CR4 or (Small) Orbital Strike of about 20 meters.

And you gain the globaling and continental communications ability. Please see Sony Online Entertainment's terms of use for such broadcast as abuse in it may get you banned from the game.

To use Continental chat simply prefix your chat with "com" and the first two letters of the continent you wish to broadcast on. For example: If you wished to send the message "please redirect your attack to the south" in the continent Esamir, you would have to type "/comes please redirect your attack to the south". Note The word "comes" above is actually "com(mand) + es(amir)" So saying, "What is the situation?" in the Continent Hossin would be /com(mand) + ho(ssin) written as "/comho What is the situation?"

Note: Because Oshur has four different sub-continents it is courteous to prefix your message with an open and close bracket around the name of the actual continent you are trying to communicate with. As an example, if you wish to use continental chat with Nexus in Oshur, you can't specifically do that because the "/comos" command will send it to all of Oshur. So use "comos [Nexus]" or something else that distinguishes what area you're talking about as a courtesy to others so people know if you're talking to them on Nexus, or if they aren't on Nexus they can disregard the message.

The global communication ability is used exactly the same way as the continental ability is, only this message goes out to your entire empire regardless of where they are. Use extra caution when using this chat, what may not offend you can offend others. We advise in sticking strictly to Hail, Farewells, and actual tactical information. Abusing this command reaps the same penalties as abusing the continental command.
To use global chat simply prefix your message with the "/comall" command. That is com(mand) + all. For example if I wanted to say "Hello everyone" globally to my empire I could use "/comall Hello everyone"
That's it! Simple yes?
