The report and appeal commands are both very useful tools to address an unsatisfactory situation occurring in-game. But there are some major differences between the two. Which one should you use and when? Our detailed description below will answer any questions you have.
Report The /Report command works as a quick snapshot of the reported user's dialogue chat pane. When you report someone, that player's chat panel, up to 30 seconds prior, is imaged and sent to a CSR. The report command works well for when a player types something into chat that violates SOE Terms of Service (ToS). Such violations include but are not limited to racial comments, derogatory terms, discrimination, and sexual harassment. View Sony Online Entertainment's ToS for full details. It's important to know that in order for the report command to work effectively, it must be used quickly otherwise the context in question may fade out of the 30 second time limit. Appeal The /Appeal command is used for when actions which violate Sony Online Entertainment's ToS are not directly mentioned in chat context. Such violations include players using third party programs, known as warez or hacks, to break the generic gaming code for reasons which typically include providing one with an unfair or overpowered advantage. Conversely, the appeal command may be used to request player specific help with problems in the game such as game graphics not properly rendering or an occurrence where you may possibly be stuck under the world map. These are just a few instances of uses for the appeal command and is not all encompassing. | ||
